Movie Shout Outs - Favorite Wandering Youth Film - Responses
Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 4:00AM It's Movie Shout Out Sunday Time!
Yesterday's question was inspired by this week's episode:
What is your favorite wandering youth film?
You guys gave us some great responses from a great variety of genres. Check them out below:
My favorite is The Go-Getter (2007), but I guess the main character isn't just wandering he does have a general goal in mind. Also he uses a car mostly. I think it's pretty interesting how one of the actors plays three distinctly different parts, just because they could.

why don't you simply beg everyone to say Stand By Me (1986)?

American Graffitti (1973)

Across the Universe(2007) :p

Stand By Me (1986)

Sid and Nancy (1986) Does that count?

Stand By Me is classic and definitely a superior film to my choice but I really dug Radio Flyer (1992) when I was younger. Elijah Wood when he was at the pinnacle of his child acting days before he donned the prosthetics for his hobbit feet.

@A_LAH and I have the same pick this week - Stand By Me (1986). It's such a classic.

Does Stand By Me (1986) count?

Seeing as The Wizard's already been called, I have to at least give an honorable mention--all right "honorable" might be stretching it, but at least a fond nod--to A Far Off Place (1993).

I honestly can't think of any besides Stand By Me (1986). :-/ It's a *great* movie though. :)

Gotta be Before Sunset (2004) and Dazed and Confused (1993). Got a soft spot for Suburbia as well. Linklater ftw!

Crossroads (1986) staring the karate kid.

Not sure if it counts but Truffaut's The 400 Blows (1959).

I'd pick the western Bad Company (1972) for a fave wandering youth movie

Wow. I was going to say 'Stand by Me' too... Hmmmm... Tricky. There's a part of me that really wants to shout out 'Almost Famous' for a great discovery film, but if I'm really pressed I think I'll have to go with 'Say Anything'. I know they aren't "wandering" physically, but I think it's one of the best self-discovery films out there.
I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that.

'Withnail & I'. Those dudes are certainly "lost".
