Seconded Where Eagles Dare (1968). Eastwood, Burton and quentin's inspiration for Inglorious Basterds (2009). Or maybe Dad's Army (1968), the movie. Might have to be British to love it. Or Kelly's Heroes (1970), Eastwood and Donald Sutherland in a tank that fires paint.

Guns of Navarone (1961) -- I like the way it combines war movie with heist movie.

Favorite military movie? It's really tough to choose. I think it's got to be Heartbreak Ridge (1986). There are so damn fantastic movies.. Patton (1970). The Great Escape (1963). Stalag 17 (1953). Kelly's Heroes (1970). Full Metal Jacket (1987).

I'll harken back to Stanley Kubrick's other great war movie. Paths of Glory (1957) with Kirk Douglas. Made the same year I was born....

Sayonara (1957), with Marlon Brando & Red Buttons. Ricardo Montalban as a Japanese Kabuki actor...? yes, please!

Renaissance Man (1994)

Dang it Kristina! You took mine! I was thinking about maybe going with Starship Troopers (1997), as I love the commentary on citizenship and service, but really I think I have to go with Cameron's Aliens (1986) which really nailed what Heinlein was going for.
