33 - This Holiday Season, You're 'Better Off Dead'!

We're cheating again!

Just like for our Thanksgiving episode, our holiday episode only vaguely has anything to do with the holiday we're celebrating, though it does include one of the funniest gift giving sequences we've ever seen.

Cult fave 'Better Off Dead' comes from an era of innocent, silly, satirical film making that we just can't generate any more. Super wacky, but it doesn't take the audience's intelligence for granted. Not to mention almost every line in the film is quotable to some degree, and the premise has been ripped off for countless parodies (even a South Park episode).

I guess all this accolade makes it even more tragic that John Cusack reviles this film, even though it's one of the films that helped put him on the map. What's that you say? Controversy?

Well watch on:

This is one of Marie and my fave flicks, and we had a LOT of fun shooting the episode on it.
Thanks DangerShoes!

fantastic Film. Iconic showing of the mid-eighties. It embodies the oddness our lives seemed to be filled with; vignettes of "odd" which seemed to rotate at random through our daily lives. Well chosen.

Going to have to check this one out. Not seen a lot of the early Cusack films (I think Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang is great though ;) ), sounds most bizarre and fun. Might leave it until xmas 2011 so it'll be my Christmas flick.

Hey Andrew. I wouldn't wait. If you're ever in the mood for a wacky comedy check it out. It has very little to do with Christmas (except for the one awesome gift scene and all the snow).
