13 - Spend Some TIME with Rock Hudson in 'Seconds'
Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 9:05AM
It's Juan's pick this week which means it's BLACK AND WHITE TIME!
This week we take a look at one of John Frankenheimer's trilogy of paranoia, 'Seconds' staring Rock Hudson.

This flick from 1966 had incredibley progressive camera work used to augment an extremely paranoid and claustrophobic story, and Frankenheimer's use of formerly blacklisted actors is compelling. While not as well known as 'The Manchurian Candidate', it's an extremely well crafted movie which plays out like 90 minute episode of The Twilight Zone.
The DVD for this film is no longer being produced, so I would HIGHLY recommend trying to pick one up. We're in danger of losing this film...

Great podcast guys! thanks again for the wonderful movies!
Thanks Karim!
I felt this was an important movie to cover.
After watching this film I can't believe that it's no longer being produced. I mean come on, it's got Rock Hudson! And naked grape stompers! (I hope that scene quits popping into my head with every glass of wine.) And the ending? Didn't see it coming.
LOL
I loves me some Malbec, so I REALLY try not to think about this film while drinking wine.
Shoot, maybe I'll pour myself a scotch tonight instead...
It would be REALLY too bad if we lost this film. I've made multiple back ups to DVD just to protect my copy.
We just can't tell stories like this anymore. The entire 60's era is just a high point of science fiction story telling...
This story is epic!
This movie was/is epic, but the bashing of George Lucas was not,and is getting VERY tiresome and wearying. I really don't care what you guys (or anybody else) thinks about him; he made his prequel trilogy, and it was somewhat better the the first one (if you include the cut scenes from movies 2 & 3). Here's a review of the most recent Indiana Jones movie that sums it up:
Saucer Men: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Instead of sounding like a bunch of drones that will listen to and regurgitate what everybody else says about George Lucas, why not read this, and think for yourselves?
Dear Neville
Butthurt.
