20 - Have a LAUGH with 'The King of Comedy'!
Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 8:14AM EPISODE 20! The BIG TWO-ZERO!
Who would've thought we would've stuck with this for so long, and boy do we have a doosey of a movie for you this week! Scorsese! DeNiro! Lewis! Bernhardt?
This movie BOMBED at the box office, and it's really a shame. We haven't seen anything like this from De Niro since, Scorsese seems to avoid comedies now, Jerry Lewis is grounded and human, and this is the best thing Sandra Bernhardt has ever done... well ever.
This movie was ahead of its time, and pretty prescient when it comes to our obsession with celebrity.
Oh and it's funny as hell...

Hello Guys,
My suggestion would be the german movie "The legend of Rita (Die Stille nach dem Schuß)" made in the year 2000.
I would really like to know what you think about that movie.
It's a movie about a serious subject but it also has humor in it.
Personally I have never seen a movie that reveals so much about the divided Germany.
Thank you.
Eckhard
Perfeck.
Thanks Eckhard!
I've added the movie to our watch list, and your entry has been noted!
True Stories - 1986
"It's a completely cool, multipurpose movie"
Sadly this movie bombed as well in theaters. Why though? You have John Goodman, David Byrne, and Spalding Gray. A totally awesome soundtrack. It also inspired the name of Radiohead (the band).

This is my WTF movie post...
The Thing With Two Heads
"They transplanted a white bigot's head on a soul brother's body!"
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWHNA_j7h5A
How about a couple Cohen Bros. films that didn't do too well.
Intolerable Cruelty

The Man Who Wasn't There

Oh, here's another one.
Big Trouble - 2001
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIR0vakVs3Q
"Again with the tv!"
Finally a Robin Williams film that doesn't dissapoint
Death to Smoochie - 2002

Twenty episodes! Happy Anniversary!
Haha, KI6ILS, I think we might be the only two people in the world who love "Big Trouble" (2001).
Double bonus on "The Man Who Wasn't There," I avoided that movie for YEARS just to find out that its potentially my favorite Cohen brothers movie.
Thanks for the great suggestions!
Snake: [remarking on his gun] Remember. I'm gonna have this thing pointed right at you. So, don't do something stupid.
Jenny Herk: How would you even know if I did something stupid.
Snake: I'll just know. Believe me, I can tell the difference.
How could I have forgotten this little gem...
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - 2005
Just loved it. Especially with the opening number; "So long, and thanks for all the fish"
Oh, before it slips my mind. Ever see Mojave Phone Booth?
A couple more came to mind that relate to Texas
Happy Texas
and
The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom
Congrats on 20 awesome episodes guys, here's to 20 more!
My suggestions - Can't Hardly Wait (1998) - A teen comedy that didn't get the attention it deserved.
Versus (2000) - Zombies, Gangsters and Ninjas in one very crazy Japanese film
Series 7: The Contenders (2001) - Big Brother with guns, an interesting look at the future of reality TV.
Here's my entry Juan (and/or Lee):
The Fountain
Darren Aronofsky flick with Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz

WATCH IT FOOLS!
Have you guys realised that since ep18, the link at the end of your show has been "www.mymym.tv" instead of "mymhm.tv"? Maybe it's a running joke, I'm not sure.
I would recommend "The Finished People" but it might be hard to get a hold of. Alternately, I'm not sure if it's been popular or not but "Dancer in the Dark" is a movie which seems to divide people. If you want a foreign film, try "Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring".
Meet the Feebles... need I say more?
Wow guys, thanks so much for this. I don't think I'd ever heard of this movie, and to see some new old scorsese is always a pleasure. Bickle - I mean, pipkus... bubkes? needs to be seen a whole lot more; it's always so refreshing and realistic to see a truly crazy character on screen.
It's ridiculous to me how poorly this movie was received. It's commentary on "fame" is nearly as prescient as 'Network's commentary on news as info-tainment.
Thanks for checking it out cazssiew!
This looks freaking awesome! That’s great to hear! Please let us know what you think of it. I am greatly enjoying it, myself.
Thanks for the update. That is one of the greatest things ever...
