Movie Shout Outs - Favorite Innovative Director? - Responses

Happy Sunday! It's Movie Shout Out Response time!

Yesterday's question was:

Who is your favorite innovative film director?

I have to admit that some of these directors are new to us here at  MYMHM.  But it's great to find out about them because we are always looking for new movies to watch!

Check out the responses below:

Even though I've not actually seen all his movies (for shame!), I'd have to say Kubrick. He has so many iconic, unique films, each redefining his own technique.

J-P Jeunet. Check out Delicatessen, Cite des Enfants Perdues, and of course Amelie.

Wong Kar Wai! And Orson Welles, of course.

Oh! Yes! Count me down that one too... [Jean-Pierre Jeunet] who did 'Delicatessen'. 'City of lost children', and 'Amelie' [ is my pick too!]

Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee. Latter is making India's first Digital Premier movie - "Love, Sex aur Dhokha" (aur Dhokha = and Betrayal).  As for Anurag Kashyap, he also happens to one of Danny Boyle's fav. too. He helped him shoot scenes in slum area of Mumbai during the filming of "Slumdog Millionaire"....Oh shit, how could I miss Kubrick?.. he definitely tops the list!

Neill Blomkamp.

Alfred Hitchcock. Making you believe you saw something when you really didn't is a talent few have possessed.
Tony B via Facebook

kinda cliched, but Quentin Tarantino. and David Fincher

Does Kenneth Anger count? If not, I'll go with Ingmar Bergman.

Christopher Nolan

Michele Gondry ...eternal sunshine is in my top 5 ever. I wish him and Kauffman would do another movie together.

Hmmm, it's hard to say if I have a FAVORITE, but I really appreciate the innovative things Tykwer did with Run Lola Run.  Also have to give a shout out to Martin Scorcese.

Wow Marie. Favorite? Really? Make it hard why don'tcha... Ok, this is kind of a cheat because the list above is a freaking incredible collection of directorial talent, but after films like '28 Weeks Later' and 'Intacto', I'm pantswettingly excited to see what Juan Carlos Fresnadillo does with the 'Bioshock' movie. Big ups to directors named after the king of Spain!
I'd also like to extend a quick shout out to one of my all time fave visual directors Guillermo Del Toro! The Hobbit is in good hands!

I should just only dream about such good talent in history dissertation just about this good topic creating. I usually utilize the help of the reliable thesis service. In my situation that fits me the best.

PT Anderson, although he's been copied quite a bit, I think that's the mark of an innovative director. Woody Allen, So many movies, starring him, about him, all for the most part with that same style. Love it!
