35 - Help Us Ring in The New Year With 'Noises Off'!
Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 8:01AM HAPPY TWO THOUSAND AND TEN!
We realized that we wrapped 2009 with a movie titled "hate", and thought we'd start 2010 off on a better note. We could think of few films more joyous than 'Noises Off'.
This romp features an incredible cast, fantastic editing, and some of the best gags seen on screen since 'Airplane'. With Juan, Marie, and Lee having worked in theatre, this film brings out some great memories (some funny, some terrifying), and with Dutch never having done any theatre, she was able to laugh with (and at) us the whole time.

I think I'm gonna watch this back to back with Clue, they seem like they'd make a good double feature.
Holy crap! Best double feature EVER!
Bravo!! I wish to thank you soo much! This movie slipped my mind. I have seen this, and loved it! Yet, it faded away. Great choice!
Hey thanks Jeff!
We were pretty stoked to talk about it.
Gotta thank @KGLucas for bringing it (back) to our attention.
When we watch that this weekend, I'm eating pretzels and thinking of you guys...So, the intermissions required in the theatre probably help with the laugh lag you mention 3/4 of the way through or so...it is a bit intense but so VERY FUNNY. I loan it out to actors as a lesson in physical comedy and I think you're right about Reeves and Elliot being the stand out performances. This film is a good argument for people underestimating the talents of comic actors -- John Ritter is so amazing and I think that kind of earnest stupidity is diffcult to do. I watch this and Eight Simple Rules and am just in awe of his comic timing. It's no surprise Kaley Cuaco is one of the brighter lights of The Big Bang Theory; she had to keep up with a master. And it is hard to watch this anymore without a lump in the throat; they are all so vibrant. But that's why it's so GREAT.
Hear hear!! Excellent note on the intermission...that had never occurred to me, but seems to make alot of sense. Given 15 minutes of respite, the window of film that taps me out would actually serve to re-acquaint me with the pace and comedic momentum of the play. And, I should say, I was never particularly predisposed to either Ritter or Reeves, but they are just so...damn...funny in this film. I could barely cut in clips without getting distracted and watching scenes play out.
I have this theory that Michael Caine is in every movie ever made - he's just not credited in some of them. The man is in EVERYTHING!
LOL!
I would not be surprised in the slightest!
