Movie Shout Outs - Worst Title? - Responses!
Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 4:01AM Sundays mean Movie Shout Out Response time!
Yesterday's question was:
What title ALMOST made you miss the movie?
You gave us some GREAT responses which reminded us why it is so important to have a good title. Check them out below:
A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006).

What's funny to me is how "on the nose" Hollywood titles their movies. So scared we're too dumb.

In Bruges (2008) actually didn't really make me want to see it, but the description sounded interesting so i took a chance and I'm glad i did!

Most recently, Martian Child (2007). If I didn't read the description, I would have never seen it.

Avatar (2009). No, wait. That title DID make me miss that movie. The Last Airbender (2010) needed that name.

Heat (1995) its such a generic action movie-y sounding title that i waited until this year to see it.

probably Pan's Labyrinth (2006), sounded like it was going to be a kids movie in the style of the never ending story. and most eastern horror movies sound so innocent & not scary at all. Ooh The Ring (2002) is going to get me ;-)

wow really? heat? that was a no brainer for me &saw it in theaters almost immediately. Rushmore (1998) was more difficult to decipher for me &i took a chance &bought a ticket. def made me a wes andersen fan.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) and Being John Malcovich (1999).

Human Centipede (2009)? surely just a film abt adults doing the conga at a ruby wedding?

Sexy Beast (2000), for sure

How to Train Your Dragon (2010). It's such an odd title...

Chocolate (2008), the one we covered in Episode 43. Even after it was explained that it wasn't the love story I thought it was, I still expected something very different from the action film we got. I totally would have missed this one.

Hopscotch (1980). If a fan hadn't suggested it, I would never have checked it out.

Attack of the Clones. I am not a hard core Star Wars fan or geek. When I heard this title it conjured up feelings of really bad, below B-Rated, 50s and 60s SciFi and Horror films.
