Movie Shout Outs - What Movie Music Moves You? - Responses
Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 4:00AM It's Movie Shout Out Response Time!
Yesterday's question was:
What movie music moves you?
This was a popular one! Check out your responses below:
(1) Shindo, in a surprising way, since normally piano music doesn't really do it for me. (2) The punk song central to Fish Story affected me more and more as the story moved along around it. And (3) the songs from That Thing You Do consistently move me to grin and chuckle over warm memories. :D

I do some of my best thinking to The Brothers Bloom OST, piano music always gets me thinking.

Star Wars: A New Hope, when Luke watches the double sunset, longing for adventure... John Williams' music swells wonderfully. Can't think of a better moment.

"A Clockwork Orange" has a soundtrack I absolutely love...And, of course, the Star Wars scores by Williams are probably some of the best ever written. But for sheer "movie dies without it", I have to go with "Crossroads".

I have a work playlist with the scores to The Brothers Bloom, Up, The Fountain and Moon in. It works a treat.

I love the soundtrack to Stay. The movie got fairly mixed reviews, but I loved it. Not the best acting I've ever seen though, but definitely worth seeing.

Well, I'm currently on a Runaways kick -- they integrated the music into that movie so well...but I remember seeing Topsy Turvy and having a scene so haunt me, I used the song in something I was writing. And then there was Amadeus, which I watched over and over, totally absorbed in the spectacle. I love movies that are actually about musicians/composers, with the music that lives in them. And then there's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which Gayle always raves about the music in. One of the soundtracks I keep meaning to pick up. I love soundtracks...

Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet. I remember when I first heard the music, I thought, "Perfect."

Out of so many fantastic movie music moments, Tiny Dancer in Almost Famous always moves me. But a close second would go to Mitch and Mickey's kiss in A Mighty Wind.
