Movie Shout Outs - Favorite Movie When You Were A Kid? - Responses!

Happy Sunday! It's Movie Shout Out Response Time!

As I predicted yesterday, this one was fun.  The question was:

What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?

You guys brought back a lot of memories.  Check out your responses below:

This is a tough one as my childhood was before VCRs so we didn't own movies that could be watched over and over. The first movie that came to mind was The Sound of Music (1965). I think we had the soundtrack so I knew all the music and always looked forward to seeing it.

Tron (1982)
Dave Z via Facebook.

ghostbusters (1984). And dune (1984). Both out when I was 12 or 13ish. Star wars (1977) too, when I was 5.

I’m going to have to go with the original The Jungle Book (1967).
-Tony B. from The OC

Flight of the Navigator (1986). *Totally* does not stand up to watching it again as an adult. Fantasia (1940) was a close second, and I do still love that one. :)

Had to be Jason and the Argonauts (1963). That movie was amazing for its time.
Bryan S via Facebook

My top 3 movies when I was a kid were Labyrinth (1986), Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), and Spaceballs (1987).

Ernest Goes To Camp (1987)

have very fond memories of Mel Brooks Silent Movie (1976). I remembering coming out and forgetting there was no speaking in it. favourite though would have to be Star Wars (1977).

Home Alone (1990) :)

Spaced Invaders (1990)

Jean Luc Godard's "Breathless". It was the most---okay, it was Star Wars (1977).
Ben S via Facebook

my fave movie as a kid was the original and best Clash of the Titans (1981), stop motion is far better than CGI
@Nebuchanezer via Twitter

Terminator 2 (1991). And the bollywood slapstick classic Andaz Apna Apna (1994).
Mudassir C via Facebook

One of my fav when I was a kid was The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984).

It's kind of a toss up between 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1985), and Flight of the Navigator (1986). Star Wars (1977) definitely pops in there too because I always thought that when the 20th Century Fox logo popped up I automatically thought Star Wars was on.

my favorite movies as a kid were The NeverEnding Story (1984) and The Goonies (1985)

Has to be Short circuit (1986).

The Last Unicorn (1982).

Howard The Duck (1986). I was 9 when it came out.

Harold and Maude (1971)
. I was probably about 10 when I saw it the first time and immediately wanted to watch it again. Now I own it and I can watch it whenever I want! And I do :)

@leonardo: yes! someone else who has seen d.a.r.y.l.!
i have toooo many to include on this list, but i'll include another not so popular pick: Explorers (1985) :)
Rick C via Facebook

OMG Lyle, seriously?
The NeverEnding Story (1984). Definitely.
Daniel C via Facebook

I used to sneak out of bed at 1 in the morning to watch Fred Astaire + Ginger Rogers movies when they took over the late, late movies for a week and we used to get to skip school when the latest Bond movie opened, which was always a fun family event.
So, that might explain a few things.
Michelle D. N. via Facebook

I'm not tryin to be unoriginal - daniel already called this one - but yeah, The NeverEnding Story (1984) was bizarre and kinda scary but I must have watched it 50 times as a kid. that and The Princess Bride (1987). and the little mermaid. and back to the future. okay, I'll stop now.
Dutch from MYMHM

The two movies I watched the most were the original Parent Trap (1961) and Newsies (1992).  I have to admit, I watched Newsies quite a bit the summer it came out on VHS.
Marie from MYMHM

The only other movie I watched more than Cloak and Dagger (1984) was The Last Starfighter (1984).  "Greetings, Starfighter. You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan armada."
