Movie Shout Outs - Favorite American Remake?-Respnses!
Sunday, June 20, 2010 at 12:00PM
Good Sunday Morning! It's Movie Shout Out Response time!
Yesterday's question was:
What is your favorite American remake of a film?
Knowing that many times people get grouchy about this subject, we have to applaud you all for rising to the occasion! Check out your responses below:
The Ring is a fantastic movie, greatly improving on the quite good original.

The Grudge 2. Although the term "remake" is used in the loosest of senses here, I preferred Grudge 2 to Ju-On 2, so it will just have to count.

I think QT's remake of City on Fire was pretty good ;-)

Either THE DEPARTED or FISTFUL OF DOLLARS.

"Insomnia", without question. I saw the original with Stellan Skaarsgard and it was awful - the insomnia played no part in the story, there was a useless love story, and Skaarsgard looked stoned more then tired. The remake (with Al Pacino) fixed all those problems and was infinitely better.

Funny Games.

Gotta go with True Lies."Have you ever killed anyone?"
"Yes, but they were all bad."

I did enjoy Ladykillers. Does Funny Games count?

The only one that comes to mind right now is Steve Buscemi's 'Interview' (2007)

"The Departed" (2006) which is a remake of the Hong Kong action thriller "Infernal Affairs"
think my fave remake has to be the remake of 'Yojimbo', 'Fistful of Dollars' is ace

I'm embarrassed to say that this week's question really surprised me with how many films I've liked and had NO IDEA they were remakes...
they're sneaky ones... :)
