Movie Shout Outs - Favorite Satire and Spoof? - Responses!
Sunday, August 8, 2010 at 4:00AM It's Movie Shout Out Response Time!
Yesterday's question was:
What is your favorite Satire or Spoof film?
We were excited to see how many of you said Black Dynamite! And of course, there were many other greats on the list. Check out your responses below:
For satire/spoof, while I love Blazing Saddles & Young Frankenstein, I love Yellowbeard more. I am alone in this, I think, but hey.

Airplane! A classic.

I'm Gonna Get You Sucka, which was a spoof OF blaxsploitation films, which made it extra funny.

Not sure how it holds up now a days, but does 'Johnny Dangerously' count?
@DangerShoes via Twitter
No fair. Yvonne took my answer. Galaxy Quest is awesome. It's funny on it's own merit, but by Grothbar's Hammer, it's hysterical for anyone who knows anything about classic Star Trek.

Dr Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb. Without a shadow of a doubt.

I presume everyone's gone for 'I'm gonna git you sucka' so I'm going for 'The Player' great satire on the movie industry.

Airplane was the movie that taught me humor.

Favorite spoofs are Andaz Apna Apna and The tv show Good Guys.

I LOVE Young Frankenstein ("what knockers") and Galaxy Quest ("Give him a hand, he's British"). Does Murder By Death fit this category? ("Why do you keep all those naked muscle men magazines in your office?" - "Suspects, always looking for suspects.")

Hot Enough for June (spy parody)

Black Dynamite..."doughnuts dont wear alligator shoes" and if you havent seen "Other Guys" yet...you should. It could be considered a spoof of cop movies. "Gator's bitches better usin jimmys!!!!"

Spaceballs. Hands down the best.

Black Dynamite rules...easily the best spoof movie to come out in years. With people swallowing garbage like Disaster Movie, Epic Movie (hell, "insert generic interchangeable word" Movie) and such it's nice to know there are still people out there that care to do it right!! It is criminal Black Dynamite didn't go over much bigger than it did.

I love the spoof like LOL glorious quality that Strictly Ballroom achieves in those moments of over the top perfect gravity.

Black Dynamite! "Anaconda malt liquor gives you .......... oooooooooh!" I got the movie, the soundtrack, the score, the bootleg version, did I mention I LOVE this movie? Even those PSA's on youtube kick ass. "Look mama, You could hit the str...eets or the sheets it do mean me no neva-mind."

Blazing Saddles
Airplane
Galaxy Quest
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. You get to the 8th dimension by driving a race car head on into a mountain. THEN it gets weird. Peter Weller is perfect but there's also John Lithgow and Christopher Lloyd. First saw it soon after its release in the 80s but love it every time I get a chance to re-see it. Sci-fi rock'n roll cooool.
Hey Miitch! I LOVE all three of those films! Nice picks!
Hey Rochelle, I NEVER would've thought of Buckaroo. That movie is OUT THERE. Eventually I came to appreciate it, but I do have to admit it took me three tries to make it through the film the first time I watched it. Weller is a badass, and is a really nice guy. Got to work with him on a VO project. Super classy.
