Thursday Giveaway - This one is Dubious...
Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 8:15AM Happy Thursday!
One of our favorite things to work into the show each week is our Dubious Award of Honor, a scene of a film that for whatever reason, takes us out of the movie for a bit.
This week, to win your very own MYMHM Coffee mug:
Over the course of our show, what has been your favorite Dubious Award?
Leave a comment below. That comment must include a brief description of the dubious award AND which episode it came from. If you need help, you can always hit up our handy Episode Archive.
Only your first comment will be counted, and comments will be counted up to 11:59 PST today.
We'll pick one comment at random. Good luck!

I really laughed at the dubious award for "the greatest way to end a dinner table argument ever" in episode 27 - Igby Goes Down. I love that movie and I love how Lee recommends dropping trou as a handy social skill :)
"The dubious award for the most unbelievable pick-up line which..."
"...leads to animation sex ever," in Ep 65 - Black Dynamite.
Watching Lee attempt the line with a straight face is one of the funniest things I've seen on MYMHM.
My favorite dubious award goes to Harold and Maude, for "the most over-the-top and shittily done Priest Screaming Into Camera About How Much Sex With An Old Lady Grosses Him Out". That part used to annoy me - he seemed so vile and it made me queasy/latently angry at the man. Since your podcast I have seen H & M again, and I can't help laughing when this scene comes up. Thanks for the change of perspective!
The Dubious Award for the ridiculous space suit design in 'Sunshine' is by far my favourite. At first the design of the suits really didn't bother me. But after watching that episode I can't watch Sunshine without going "Durrr, I'm a space man!" as they work behind the shield.
the first one that comes to mind, since i just watched it, is juan's micro-dubious award for john turturro's feet in the barton fink review... lol
Mary and Max: Failure to adequately write Americans.
I chose this less for the award and more to plug the movie. (Though still a valid award) I wouldn't have watched it without your podcast!
Juan's Personal Dubious Award to Taye Diggs in the "Equilibrium" episode (38): "In a society where emotions are supposed to be bad, there's not a scene involving Taye Diggs where he's not laughing!"
My favorite dubious award was for Repo the genetic opera (which I suggested to Juan on twitter I think) in which you guys call out bill Moseley as the worst portrayal of an older brother and I remember being so stoked You were reviewing the movie and then instant switch to outrage lol. "How do you not know who bill Moseley is?!" And such I asked aloud to no one. I thought his terrible singing and b movie anctics was the best! House of 1000 corpses! The end when he's like "I CANT HEAR YOU YOU MAGGOTS! daddy!" And starts crying..so bad its soo good :D totally comic hammy relief on stage for sure lol. Also to Juan, after first watch I had all songs stuck in head :)
I also feel bad for Lee who can't see the glory of repo! Gotta sit down playing left 4 dead, repo on, friends over. Guaranteed epic win
I'm not jockeying for sympathy or anything but I spent about 20 minutes yesterday writing a rant for The Dubious Award for Exemplary Overuse of "Fuck" in a movie. (From "A Guide to Knowing your Saints") I came back in just now to find it gone. I hate that my phone fucked me when I clicked "create post". Fuck. To raged to even remember what I wrote word for word.
PS- Dubious Award for Most Quotes in a "Blurb"? Win!
Still watching old episodes, but from The King of Comedy, Most Dubious Award for the "Least Sexy Table Sweep Let's Do It Right Here Moment Ever" ...just simply an amazing moment in the film and the best award you've given out I've actually seen :) Also the flabbergasted stares were wonderful.
Makes me want to re-watch it just to see it in full excruciatingly long detail again, was years ago I saw the film now! I never appreciated the full extent of the main characters sheer craziness too. If that dubious moment wasn't there, it'd be a much lesser film :)
(Oh also I notice a lot of spam on older entries comments, hope that can be removed sometime since I don't want to post below spam ads!)
LOL! Wow! You guys made us laugh. It's funny how we forget some of these. Thanks for the reminder and for the laughs. The Winner will be announced in a post soon!
Keep an eye out for more giveaways!
