92 - This week we say a eulogy at the "Grave of the Fireflies"

We don't cover enough animation on this show.

There I said it.

To help make up for that fact, this week we're covering one of the most culturally important films Japan has ever produced.

A film largely heralded as one of the most effective anti-war films ever made.

Let's take a look!

Let's just cut to the chase -- where did Lee get that awesome shirt?

While I generally have a policy of never giving away the magician's secrets, that particular gem can be found at www.bustedtees.com. Who buys funny shirts? Weeeeee dooooooo.

I believe it's pronounced "Ji-bu-ri", thought I'm sure somebody else probably knows more than me about it.

LOL! Thanks Zachary.
We're traditionally pretty awful at pronouncing things correctly on this show. I always appreciate the feedback, but you're fighting a losing battle...

Yes, I'm going back through old episode and watching where you've reviewed a movie I've actually seen. I don't know why I feel the need to comment on all of them.

I'm only two minutes in to this episode, and Lee made a comparison that strikes a chord. By the time the credits rolled on this, I looked like a chubby Courtney Love circa the "Live Through This" era,, sobbing, makeup everywhere, gasping "whuhuhuhuhuhyyyy?!!?" Which is exactly how I wrapped up "Requiem for a Dream." I recommend this movie to everyone I know, but I will never go back and watch it again.

Hey Kathleen,
I know EXACTLY what you mean. Sometimes, no matter how amazing the film is, I'll only ever need to see that film once. Odd that GotF and Requiem are both on my list too...
