Wanted to see this movie for awhile. The trailer looked really cool, and the creature looked almost Cthulhu like. I know it isn't that type of monster, but I could hope. May still watch it. Though that big hole in the wall with no guards or defense seems kinda hard not to notice... Love you guys! Glad you are back, and I'm back watching. :)
LOL That's awesome. I kept thinking it would be a great design for Cthulhu's pet.

I agreed with pretty much everything in this review. I had learned about this movie through the horror blogs I follow and the trailer looked pretty awesome. Then one of the blog authors I chat with saw it and said it wasn't like what I was expecting. "Oh, don't tell me it's a love story or some crap like that" I said. "Um, it's love story or some crap like that" was his response. I ended up enjoying it b/c I basically knew what to expect, but had I gone in with just a trailer seen on a horror site, I may have been disappointed or a little put off.
I liked the design of the monsters. I liked that they were somewhat recognizable and very similar to our own animal species. Granted, this is a fictional film, but it stands to reason that animals from another planet would look similar to our own critters, just slightly off. The laws of biology and physics still apply, it's not like they're magical or something, evolution would have taken a somewhat similar course, I would think. And yes, it does look like Cthulu's purse chihuahua.
The hole in the wall was jarring to me. That part of the movie I was completely distracted b/c I kept coming up with simple solutions to how they could have made that wall whole and still allow people to move through but not the aliens. A giant gate, some sort of an over the wall escalator system, a tunnel underneath like in the mountains. Anyway...

Thats absolutely the major failing of the film. It's CALLED "Monsters" but these two characters could just be road tripping through an indie drama.
