108 - Indie Head to Head! "Jesus' Son" vs "Poolhall Junkies"

We don't cover enough indie film on this show.

To rectify that Lee and Juan decided to challenge each other to finding an uber-indie MYMHM. To sweeten the deal, we're making this an actual challenge.

We've presented arguments for why we liked each of these films, but you're going to tell us which is better! Leave us a comment below iif you like Juan's pick ("Poolhall Junkies") or Lee's pick ("Jesus' Son"). And we'll announce who won in a future episode.

Ok, so... based solely on your reviews (haven't seen either film), I'd have to go with "Poolhall Junkies" - even with the flaws mentioned, it seems to have a cooler soundtrack and a less angst-filled-introspective-meandering story.

But that's just me.

How say we all?

POOLHALL JUNKIES! I suggested it, and Jesus' (maybe it's Hay-Zues') Son doesn't look like it's anywhere near as good as the other movie. Sorry Lee, but that's my vote.

I doubt you can track down a copy of Burt Rigby, You're A Fool without ordering a $20 DVD copy off Warner Bros. :(

I think Jesus' Son might win just because I'm pretty sure it has a bigger fanbase.

Just saw Poolhall Junkies. It was a great time, will get round to "Jesus' Son" one I get a chance.

Basing this solely on your reviews, I am going with Jesussss' Son. I love me a good wandering picaresque film that percolates with loose ends. It gives me something to think about afterward.

Go team Lee!

Jesus' Son was also good, but I think I'm sticking with Poolhall Junkies.

Between the two, Jezusus' Son is my flickchart-style pick for this duel.

Jessuz' Son packs a solid jab.
Poolhall Junkies is damn good fun.
