118: This week Marie picks the flicks! - 'An Education' and 'Calendar Girls'
Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 10:28PM Since Lee got to pick the movies last week, Producer Marie decided that it was high time that a couple of her films got reviewed. This week's films have a LOT in common: they are both true stories, both great examples of British cinema, and both were pretty alarming to us .... UNTIL we actually sat down to watch them.
And we actually liked them (don't tell Marie).

Re: Helen Mirren: Prime Suspect. Watch the original Prime Suspect. Now I've got the Coupling guys raving about Helen Mirren in my head and am reconsidering making a pitch to watch An Education some night.
LOL! Marie JUST got Prime Suspect for us recently. Going to try and find some time to give it a proper sit down.
MAKE HER WATCH AN EDUCATION!!! DO IT!!!
Whenever I see Alfred Molina, I always flash back to the role he had in Raiders of the Lost Ark as the guide who tricked Indy in the opening sequence and got spiders all over him. The first time I saw Raiders I thought "Is that Doc Oc?" lol
LOL! I I know exactly what you mean. Real spiders on Molina = rad! CG scorpions on Mutt = Lame...
No disrespect to Marie's choices, because I really liked "An Education" and would like to see "Calendar Girls." But . . . Helen Mirren's rack. AMIRITE?!!? Seriously. Lee's mostly justifiable aversion aside, I mean come on. I'm 99.9 repeating percent straight and I wouldn't mind having a peep at Mirren's rack. Which, now that I've done a little research, I am to understand you don't actually get to see. *sigh*
Also, I love watching British movies and playing "Spot Shaun's (of the dead) Mom."
This was a very fun episode!
