    Movie Shout Outs - Favorite Disaster Film? - Responses!

    It's Sunday, so that means it's Movie Shout Out Response Time!

    Yesterday's question was:

    What is your favorite guilty-pleasure Disaster film?

    This one got a LOT of responses!  It seems there is a reason these films continue to be made.  Check out your responses below:

    volcano
    Matt K via Facebook

    Gigli, because it was a disaster of a film!
    Richard B via email

    There's so many but currently it's 2012. Both Vegas and my fair City of Angels gets destroyed. Makes me giggle like a school girl.
    @gothamite66 via Twitter

    What was the one with Pierce Brosnan? The only scene I can really remember is they are in a canoe on a lake/pond thats full of acid, kiling fish. But not melting the boat. Dante's Peak!
    Eric J via Facebook

    Towering Inferno. Or The Posideon Adventure (the original, of course).
    Bob B via email

    I adore Cameron's Titanic if that counts as a guilty pleasure.
    @bpdreview via Twitter

    The Towering Inferno, burning skyscaper story with an incredible cast including Paul Newman & Steve McQueen ... 2 and a half hours of typical 70s edge of your seat fun
    Ben H via Facebook

    I have a guilty pleasure with Towering Inferno. Firefighters howl at the scene where two fireballs are falling down an elevator shaft and one chief looks at the other and says with all the emotion of stubbing one's toe. "Those are two of ours."
    Tony B via email

     disaster movies should have soap opera storylines & an all star cast, so my vote is for the big daddy 'The Towering Inferno'
    @Nebuchanezer via Twitter

    hate to admit it but i really liked deep impact way better than armageddonor dantes peak that was good was never really that keen on all the hollywood blockbuster disaster movies and dont get me started on 2012 lol
    Bri N via Facebook

    Night of the Comet, or Independence day
    @Starwarsgirl via Twitter

    Irwin Allen was the Master. I agree with Ben, the Towering Inferno is great plus I've always had a dear spot in my hear for the Poseidon Adventure.
    Keith M via Facebook

    Always has been old-school, 'Earthquake'
    @DangerShoes via Twitter

    Earthquake. Absolutely exquisite in its guilty pleasuring.
    Kristen M via Facebook

    Atomic Train! "The Final Stop Is Deadly." What could be better? (maybe worse?)
    @crowfax via Twitter

    I have to say I love The Day After Tomorrow...guilty.
    Danielle K via Facebook

    as of now it is 2012, it was so stupid. I just couldn't stop laughing. STUPIDITY IN HD.
    @KamillyC via Twitter

    I'm with Keith, Poseidon Adventure is pretty good. I just saw 2012 the other day, and while it lowered my IQ by at least that many points, I have to say that it was just plain dumb fun and worth a watch.
    @Kelly G.L. via Facebook

    The (original) Poseidon Adventure.
    @reduced via Twitter

    Does Twister count? I could watch that one over and over again. I also have a soft spot for The Day After Tomorrow, because it is so very fun to giggle at.
    Leslie N via Facebook

    you mean the movie its self is a disaster like Furry Vengeance or a movie about a disaster like a bio pic of Rose O'Donnell?
    @KI6ILS via Twitter

    Indiana Jones 4 is the greatest disaster of all time! My world, definitely, almost came to an end. I wish George, Steven and Harrison a comfortable, and hopefully soon, retirement.
    Arin K via Facebook

    I say 28 Days Later (or other apocalyptic zombie flicks). If I can speak for my non-Twittering wife, she says Titanic.
    @andrewski via Twitter

    @Arin: yes, @Danielle: Guilty as well
    Paxx D via Facebook

    First one that comes to mind is The Towering Inferno, although I'd add Fred Astaire to the "incredible cast" list; Gayle voted with The Day After Tomorrow gathering crowd.
    Michelle D. N. via Facebook

    For me, I have always had a soft spot for Independence Day.  How can you go wrong with Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith?

    Movie Shout Outs - What's next for Animation? - Responses!

    It's that time again!  Movie Shout Out Response time!!  Yesterday's question was:

    What type of film would you like to see next in Animation?

    Your responses, as usual, were fun and creative.  Check them out below:

    Sci-fi. Mainly so I can FINALLY get a decent Cowboy Bebop movie.
    @ChrisTr via Twitter

    Does Casshern count?
    Michael F via Facebook

    I loved what they did with A Scanner Darkly... I'd like to see more of (and different styles of) that. Renaissance was similar...
    @catalyst_echo via Twitter

    well most genres have been animated already, but I wouldn't mind seeing an animated zombie movie
    @Nebuchanezer via Twitter

    Hmmm, animation, well, for a serious movie I'd say "Waltz with Bashir", for crazy I'd say "Dead Leaves" and just in general an interesting animated kids movie is "the Secret of Kells".
    John I. G. via MYMHM comment

    If Guy Ritchie animated one of his crime capers, making them a lot more OTT that could be a lot of fun to watch.
    @nikmortimer via Twitter

    I've been thinking for awhile now that a new Heavy Metal, with linked science fiction/fantasy stories would be cool.
    @lonelypond via Twitter

    Snowcrash by Neil Stevenson.
    Lee from MYMHM

    Twelfth Night...or A Comedy of Errors.
    Marie From MYMHM

    A black and white World War II film, would be a really interesting topic for Animation.

    Movie Shout Outs - Favorite Generational Warfare Film? - Responses!

     Good Sunday morning! It's Movie Shout Out Response Time!

    Yesterday's question was:

    What is your favorite generational warfare film?

    This one was tricky even for us at MYMHM, but you rose to the occasion.  Check out your responses below:

    The Ice Storm (1997). Here, play with the whip.
    Rochelle via MYMHM comment

    "East of Eden" (1955)
    .
    Christian D via Facebook

    River's Edge (1986)
    "you just come here+eat our food+f**k our mum...FOOD EATER...MOTHERF**KER!"
    @here_comes_B via Twitter

    I'm gonna go with X2: X-Men United (2003). Kids vs. Adults. New ideas of identity vs. old ones.
    Alex L via Facebook

    nearly said Footloose (1984) for comedy effect, but think for teenagers against grown up Russians it has to be Red Dawn (1984)
    @Nebuchanezer via Twitter

    BR is a great film.
    Matt K via Facebook

    Reality Bites (1994)
    ! (*giggles* (-; )And Newsies (1992)!!!
    @JillJordan17 via Twitter

    BR  is a great movie, the sequal tho not so much...How about Rock N' Roll High School Forever (1991) featuring the Ramones and it's predecessor starring Corey Feldman? lol.  I think Clockwork (1971) could be considered a generational warfare film...
    Nate S via Facebook

    Star Wars IV-VI
    @lifeofreilly via Twitter

    Not that this is a shocker for those that know me, but I'm going to have to go with @JillJordan17 and say Newsies (1992.  I've lost count of how many times I've seen that movie....ooooh or The Breakfast Club (1985).
    Marie from MYMHM

    Gonna have to go with Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead (1991), simply for being a movie I didn't realize was terrible when I was a kid.
    Lee from MYMHM

    Damn Marie, a tricky one here... First one that comes to mind is something like Footloose (1984)... Because I'm a theatre nerd... Or maybe a Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) (or any number of John Hughes films for that matter), but I think I'm going to have to go snobby and say Rebel Without a Cause (1955)...

    Movie Shout Outs - Favorite Satire and Spoof? - Responses!

    It's Movie Shout Out Response Time!

    Yesterday's question was:

    What is your favorite Satire or Spoof film?

    We were excited to see how many of you said Black Dynamite!  And of course, there were many other greats on the list.  Check out your responses below:

     For satire/spoof, while I love Blazing Saddles & Young Frankenstein, I love Yellowbeard more. I am alone in this, I think, but hey.
    @KateSherrod via Twitter

    I Love this movie.[Black Dynamite]
    Demetrius T via Facebook

    does Starship Troopers count?...can I change my mind+have Cell Block 4?
    @here_comes_B via Twitter

    Galaxy Quest. Alan Rickman, Tony Shaloub, Enrico Colantoni, what more could you want?
    Yvonne B via Facebook

    Airplane! A classic.
    @sinspired via Twitter

    I'm Gonna Get You Sucka, which was a spoof OF blaxsploitation films, which made it extra funny.
    Michael B via Facebook

    Not sure how it holds up now a days, but does 'Johnny Dangerously' count?
    @DangerShoes via Twitter

    No fair. Yvonne took my answer. Galaxy Quest is awesome. It's funny on it's own merit, but by Grothbar's Hammer, it's hysterical for anyone who knows anything about classic Star Trek.
    :-)
    Brigitte B via Facebook

    Dr Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb. Without a shadow of a doubt.
    @ChrisTr via Twitter

    young frankenstein, most definitely. blazing saddles a close second. :)
    Dorie B via Facebook

    I presume everyone's gone for 'I'm gonna git you sucka' so I'm going for 'The Player' great satire on the movie industry.
    @Nebuchanezer via Twitter

    Airplane was the movie that taught me humor.
    Keith M via Facebook

    Favorite spoofs are Andaz Apna Apna and The tv show Good Guys.
    @muddi900 via Twitter

    I LOVE Young Frankenstein ("what knockers") and Galaxy Quest ("Give him a hand, he's British"). Does Murder By Death fit this category? ("Why do you keep all those naked muscle men magazines in your office?" - "Suspects, always looking for suspects.")
    Kelly G. L. via Facebook

    Hot Enough for June (spy parody)
    @KateGabrielle via Twitter

    Black Dynamite..."doughnuts dont wear alligator shoes" and if you havent seen "Other Guys" yet...you should. It could be considered a spoof of cop movies. "Gator's bitches better usin jimmys!!!!"
    David T via Facebook

    Spaceballs. Hands down the best.
    @gothamite66 via Twitter

    Black Dynamite rules...easily the best spoof movie to come out in years. With people swallowing garbage like Disaster Movie, Epic Movie (hell, "insert generic interchangeable word" Movie) and such it's nice to know there are still people out there that care to do it right!! It is criminal Black Dynamite didn't go over much bigger than it did.
    Christopher H via Facebook

    I love the spoof like LOL glorious quality that Strictly Ballroom achieves in those moments of over the top perfect gravity.
    @lonelypond via Twitter

    Black Dynamite! "Anaconda malt liquor gives you .......... oooooooooh!" I got the movie, the soundtrack, the score, the bootleg version, did I mention I LOVE this movie? Even those PSA's on youtube kick ass. "Look mama, You could hit the str...eets or the sheets it do mean me no neva-mind."
    Austin E. V. via Facebook

    "Life of Brian", and more recentlty "Walk Hard."
    Christian D via Facebook

    Dr Strangelove!! parady, satire AND spoof. Hot Shots.
    Denise D via Facebook

    Airplane
    Rene' B via Facebook

    Black Dynamite may be the best movie ever made!!! The part with the nunchucks kills me every time!!!! LOVE IT SUCKA !!!!!!!
    Jon H via Facebook

    One of my fav movies evar!

    "It's Chinatown, Jake." Don't forget the classic, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (1982). :)
    Bryan S via Facebook

    Does Twelve Monkeys (1995) count?
    @theredderroy via Twitter

    Standing on the shoulders of Sunset Blvd (1950), I'd have to say Mulholland Drive (2001). One of the most disturbing movies I've seen.
    @andrewski via Twitter

    Robert Wise's THE SET-UP (1949) and Billy Wilder's Double Indemnity (1944)!
    Alex L via Facebook

    Brick (2005) is my favourite film noir, I'm pretty sure that counts.
    @nikmortimer via Twitter

    Mine is probably The Man Who Wasn't There (2001).
    @ChrisTr vi Twitter

    Pulp Fiction (1994).  I believe it is still Tarantino’s best.
    Tony B via email

    aven't seen many noirs. I had the topic on social class in film studies instead :-) but Brick (2005) is an astonishing watch.
    @Amezzeray via Twitter

    Memento (2000). All it needs is some fedoras. :)
